Welcome to the third edition of Self Help Online!
With the basic background information provided in the first two posts of this series, we will now explore some practical examples of how you can use all of the resources accessible though the internet to actively practice self help in your everyday life.
There are many methods of meditation that allow your mind to breathe, take a break and recenter itself in high stress or any particular struggles with mental health. There are websites that offer free printable therapeutic coloring sheets, breathing exercises, writing prompts or charts to help you organize your thoughts and priorities.
Keep in mind that everyone responds to things differently. What may help one person might not help the other. The key is finding what works for you and sticking with it. I have personally used many of these resources, but my favorite may to combat darker days is through moving my body. I love to practice yoga with the help of Youtube Videos called "Yoga with Adriene".
Adriene has series as well as individual practices of yoga and mediation which serve as a great exercise to start, end or continue your day with a fresh slate and a clear mind. It doesn't hurt that you can stay in your pajamas as you practice in the comfort of whatever location you may prefer.
So start practicing in whatever way you see best fits!
